The state institution Republican Scientific and Practical Center "Cardiology" is the main specialized scientific and treatment-and-prophylactic center that provides the organization and provision of high-tech cardiological and cardiac surgical care to the population of the Republic of Belarus and foreign citizens. More than 670 heart transplants have been performed. The first heart transplant in the Republic of Belarus was performed by a team of medical specialists led by academician Yu.P. Ostrovsky in 2009. The Center has mastered new types of surgical interventions: performing simultaneous and hybrid operations for complex diseases (simultaneous surgery on three vascular regions at once: myocardial revascularization, abdominal aortic replacement and femoral-popliteal bypass surgery); endovascular aortic valve implantation (TAVI) using modern valve models (Medtronic Evolut R, Edwards Sapien 3, Abott Portico); implantation of stem cells into the myocardium of the left ventricle of the heart according to electromechanical mapping data in patients with severe heart failure (NOGA technology); endovascular mitral valve repair using the MitraClip system. An aortic stent graft system has been developed for the surgical treatment of aortic aneurysms. The center is the clinical base of the Department of Cardiac Surgery of the Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Health Care Personnel of the Belarusian State Medical University. An Angiographic simulation training center has been deployed at the Republican Scientific and Practical Center "Cardiology".
