Product overview
The COSIMA company is a Russian developer and manufacturer of devices for transcutaneous spinal cord stimulation - an innovative technology for restoring movement in patients with severe neurological disorders. Our method is based on multi-level non-invasive electrical stimulation of spinal structures. It activates spinal cord neural networks involved in motor control and promotes recovery and improvement of gait, trunk control, postural stability and motor coordination. Additionally, the method has a positive effect on autonomic functions associated with the regulation of internal organs. Our methodology is based on more than 30 years of research in the field of spinal neurophysiology and is supported by an extensive evidence base: the results are reflected in 140+ publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Nature Communications, Nature Medicine, Scientific Reports and Frontiers in Rehabilitation Sciences. The total number of citations exceeds 15,000 - our scientific works are widely used and mentioned by other researchers, this is one of the key indicators of their significance and recognition in the professional community. Our devices are successfully used in clinical practice in leading Russian scientific and clinical centers, including the National Medical Research Center of the Russian Ministry of Health, the Federal Scientific and Clinical Center of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia and the Russian Center for Neurology and Neuroscience. International cooperation covers a number of leading scientific and clinical centers, including Shirley Ryan AbilityLab and Kessler Foundation (USA), Brain Mind Institute (EPFL, Switzerland), Institut Guttmann (Spain), as well as research universities and clinics in Canada, Japan, Thailand and other countries. The technology is protected by 12 patents in Russia and internationally. MAIN ADVANTAGES OF OUR METHOD
- Efficiency: multisegmental effects simultaneously activate several areas of the spinal cord, which provides a powerful synergistic effect and can significantly reduce rehabilitation time. - Safety: surgical risks are excluded, the technique is well tolerated by patients
-  Effectiveness: activation of spinal neural networks contributes to the formation of new connections and restoration of voluntary movements. According to observational data, 97.3% of patients treated using our technique demonstrate positive clinical dynamics
Our goal is to help physicians and rehabilitation therapists initiate movement without surgery or complex procedures, improve recovery techniques, accelerate rehabilitation, and improve clinical effectiveness. We give patients with the consequences of stroke and spinal cord injuries a chance to regain the ability to move, expand the boundaries of their capabilities and gain independence in everyday life.
