Educational institution "Belarusian State Medical University" is the leading institution of higher medical education in the Republic of Belarus; founded in 1921. The university has 9 faculties: medical, dental, pediatric, preventive medicine, pharmacy, medical faculty for foreign students, faculty of career guidance and pre-university training, faculty of additional education for healthcare workers and military medical faculty. The structure of the university includes a military medical institute, an institute for advanced training and retraining of health care personnel, and a research institute for experimental and clinical medicine. The university trains medical personnel in 5 specialties: “General Medicine”, “Dentistry”, “Pediatrics”, “Medical and Preventive Care” and “Pharmacy” and trains over 8,000 students and clinical residents, of which over 3,000 are foreign students and clinical residents from 60 countries, who are trained in Russian or English. More than 65% of foreign students study in English. The university has 1,585 teachers. Education at the university is practice-oriented and is carried out in 96 departments. 65 clinical departments are located in 124 clinics, clinics and scientific and practical centers of the city. Minsk, students and university employees can gain experience and practice in the practice-oriented training building of the Belarusian State Medical University and in the Republican Center for Professional Certification and Simulation Training of Medical and Pharmaceutical Workers of the Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Healthcare Personnel of the educational institution "Belarusian State Medical University". Modern information technologies and elements of distance learning are actively used in the educational process: electronic educational and methodological complexes in the Moodle system in Russian and English, the “Virtual Patient”, “Virtual Factory” programs and a simulation and certification pharmacy. BSMU is accredited according to the standards of the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME), is a member of the Association of Chinese-Belarusian Universities, the International Association of Medical Education BRIMEA and cooperates with more than 150 universities from 29 countries, and the range of contacts is constantly expanding. The university cooperates with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the World Health Organization (WHO Country Office, Belarus).
